KNOXVILLE, Ia. — After a one-year hiatus, Donny Schatz was back in victory lane at Knoxville Speedway.
Schatz reclaimed his spot at the top with a victory in the 57th Knoxville Nationals on Saturday night.
It was the 10th victory for Schatz who had five straight wins before being knocked off by Jason Johnson last season.
Schatz held off a late charge by Kyle Larson to secure the victory. Larson took second. Kerry Madsen took third. Johnson finished 11.
David Gravel led early on, but fell out of the top spot when his engine failed and Schatz took the lead on lap 22.
