Ukraine prevents Georgia’s former president from entering its territory

The former Ukrainian president, Mikhail Saakashvili, has been barred from crossing into Poland by the Ukrainian authorities while trying to enter the country to regain Ukrainian citizenship, which was withdrawn from him by Ukrainian President Petro Porchenko.

“They have done it against all the laws, what is happening here!” He told reporters at the border crossing of Medica. “We hope we can still get there,” Saakashvili told reporters at the Medica border crossing.

The Ukrainian border guards told Saakashvili in the presence of a group of journalists that he was forbidden to enter for security reasons, noting that the area around the crossing was “mined”.
