  • Liverpool have also maintained on course to finish in Premier League’s top four

Liverpool trained ahead of their Premier League trip to West Brom on Saturday.

Jurgen Klopp‘s side appeared to be in a relaxed mood at Melwood Training Ground on Tuesday.

Manager Klopp was pictured laughing while centre back Virgil van Dijk waved to the cameras during the session.

It has been an excellent April so far for the Reds as they progressed to the Champions League semi-finals courtesy of a 5-1 aggregate win over Manchester City and have also maintained on course to finish in the Premier League’s top four.

Just days after reaching the Champions League last four Liverpool beat Bournemouth in the league 3-0 last Saturday and Klopp said that result was ‘exceptional’.

‘It was a very intense 14 days for the boys, very intense from all parts – physical and mental,’ Klopp told Liverpoolfc.com. ‘It was really hard. So what they did [against Bournemouth] was exceptional, to be honest.

‘The mood is so positive in Liverpool; we had a walk in the city – which we always do when we’re in the hotel – and it kind of felt like a parade already, people were clapping their hands and beeping their horn and shouting “well done”. We still had to play Bournemouth.

‘We know it was good but the next game needs to be good as well. That’s quite a challenge for the human side of us. The boys did really well.’

The league’s bottom side West Brom will be buoyed by their away win against Manchester United last weekend and Liverpool face Roma in the first leg of the Champions League semi-finals three days after the league clash.

Klopp’s side are just one point behind rivals Manchester United in third place in the league standings.
